Get your page ready before the spotlight hits

A post takes off, someone bigger shares your work, launch day arrives. The traffic comes when it comes. Here's how to have your page ready first.

fayvi ·

Attention rarely arrives on schedule. A video picks up overnight. Someone with a bigger audience shares your work. A local paper runs the story a week early. By the time you notice, a lot of strangers may already have tapped your bio link.

Those strangers don't know you yet. Your page gets one look to tell them who you are and what to do next. The work happens before the spike, not during it.

Decide what a new visitor should do

People who already know you will find their way around. A first-time visitor won't. Pick the one action that would matter most if your audience doubled this week:

  • follow you where you post most often
  • join your mailing list
  • listen to, watch or read your best piece
  • buy, book or pre-order

Put it first, and write the button so a stranger understands it.

Say who you are in one line

Your bio was probably written for people who already know you, which is exactly who won't be visiting during a spike. Read it as a stranger would. Does it say what you make and who it's for? If not, rewrite it. The free Bio Generator gives you a few starting points.

Catch the people who aren't ready yet

Most people who visit during a spike won't buy or book that day. Some of them would happily hear from you later, if you give them a way.

On fayvi: add a Mailing list block near the top. Every sign-up shows up in Submissions, where you can export the list as a CSV or send each new subscriber to your email tool with a webhook.

A spike is borrowed attention. An email address is a way to reach someone after the feed has moved on.

Schedule the launch instead of racing it

If you know the date (a release, a product drop, an event), set everything up days ahead.

  • Scheduled blocks. Give the launch block a go-live time and it appears on the minute. Give a limited offer a take-down time and it disappears when it should.
  • A temporary redirect. For a launch day where only one link matters, a redirect can send every visitor straight to it between a start and an end time. After that, your page comes back on its own.
  • One animation. Give the launch block one of the attention animations (pulse, glow, bounce…) so it's the first thing people notice. Just that one.

Test it where people will actually open it

Most visitors will open your link from inside Instagram, TikTok or another app, in that app's built-in browser. Before the big day, share your link somewhere private (a message to yourself works) and open it from inside the app on your phone. Tap every button.

On phones, fayvi tries to open links to YouTube, Spotify, Instagram, Amazon and many other apps in the app itself when it's installed, and falls back to the web page when it isn't.

Watch the numbers while it happens

During a spike, check your analytics every day:

  • Views and clicks: is the page turning visits into taps?
  • Clicks per link: is the top block the one getting tapped?
  • Sources: which app is the traffic coming from? Write your next post for that crowd.

If the top block isn't getting taps, change its label or its image. You can edit the page while the traffic is still coming in.

Afterwards, tidy up

When things calm down:

  • move the launch block into a folder, or let its take-down time remove it
  • keep the mailing list near the top
  • write down what worked, so the next spike is easier

The short version

  • One clear action for strangers, at the top.
  • A bio a stranger can understand.
  • A mailing list for the people who aren't ready yet.
  • Launch blocks scheduled ahead, and a redirect for one-link days.
  • A test from inside Instagram and TikTok, on a phone.
  • Sources and clicks per link, every day of the spike.
